Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) is a 12-step program for those who grew up with alcoholic parents. The ACA provides a safe, non-judgmental environment that allows members to grieve their childhoods and take an honest look at themselves and their families. Together members identify deep trauma from the past as well as the shame, abandonment, or other issues they struggled with as children. They work through these problems in order to heal themselves so they can be healthy adults without carrying the baggage from their past into future relationships.
